About Us
JABUCA Laboratories was established by Shree Vasant Kumar Ramanlal Shah at Agrawa in the year 1978. His source of inspiration was his father- Shree Ramanlal Somalal Shah – who was a freedom fighter, a connoisseur of Ayurveda herbs, physician, trader, and a businessman.
“During our childhood, our father whom we lovingly called “Bapuji” would take us out for walks in forests, pastures, farms to show various herbs and plants. We would learn to identify them and once we got back home he would teach us the medicinal values and properties of those same herbs and plants from the Ayurveda granth “Arya Bhishek”. This is how I started developing an interest and gaining knowledge and information about the useful plants and herbs since my school days” says Chairman Shree Vasant Kumar.
At the age of 19, Mr Vasant Kumar wanted to join the Indian defence forces. In a humble conversation with his father, he came to know about a golden path to touch millions of lives and that was to produce Quality Ayurveda supplements and spread the awareness of living a holistic ayurvedic life. To fulfill his dreams, he joined Jamnagar Ayurveda college and became a pharmacist (B.Pharm) in 1976. He spent two years on market research and resource development and in 1978 after acquiring the license from the government, “JABUCA” Laboratories was established at Agarva village-Gujarat. The name “JABUCA” came from words “JABU” from “JAdi-BUtti” and “CA” from “Ka(CA)ryalaya”.
The first project was to make “Best out of Waste”. They collected and processed thrown away Mango Seeds known as “gutli”- the big-sized creamy-white seed in the centre of a mango. These gutlis possesses a dense supply of nutrients and antioxidants which are generally consumed in powdered form, or made into oil and butter. The second such project was about the Babool (Gum Arabica) seeds. These seeds were processed into cattle fodder that helped increased the milk production in cattle, and touched many lives in the surrounding villages by helping the poor earn their livelihood. This social reform awarded them a reward from the central government in Delhi.
In 1983, expansion was carried out and JABUCA had new premises at Dakor-Kapadvanj road in Gujarat in huge infrastructres and with new latest machinery. In 1990, due to severe flooding, the raw material in abundant quantities was spoiled and machinery became non-operable. It was a huge setback. Due to subsequent adverse conditions, the factory was closed and land sold out. In 1991, with help of Shree Bhikhubhai P Shah, JABUCA resumed operations again at a new place: survey no 1957 at DAKOR – Market yard in Gujarat and we still continue to operate at the same address.
In the year 2000, Miraj and Nirali (Son and daughter in law of Shree Vasant kumar ) joined the family business to bring it to new heights. Both are B.Pharm pharmacists from Jamnagar Ayurveda College. Their association to business operations has given modern directions to business expansions and also inclusion of automation in manufacturing processes.
Right now, the factory has two new multi-storey units each of 5000 sqft floor area built according to government “Schedule T” regulations and follows GMP for all products. We also have a state of art advanced R&D laboratory well equipped with latest facilities. We supply more than 50 pure and hygienic Ayurveda products not only in India but in European countries too.
